“The stories of my body lie buried in my bones
waiting for the pull of muscle and sinew
and the tickle of a deep, deep breath
to float them to the surface of my skin.” (Rae Johnson)
Picasso once said he spent his whole life learning to see like a child again. We have always been delighted to hear how playful participants find Drawn to Dance workshops. In this one-day, on-line workshop we will explore the body as a canvas. We will start by experiencing the patterns our body holds in the dance. Then express this visually, using colour, shape, paper cut–outs and body painting (using as much or as little of your body as you choose).
As the day progresses you will begin to experience the meeting place of movement and creativity, the inner and the outer, the known and the unknown. An opportunity to share something engaging, creative and joyful within a group of like-minded souls.
You will receive a materials package in the post with everything you will need to participate in the comfort of your own home.
No previous experience in art or dance necessary, but if you do have experience of either, it will add to the experience.
The day will include, dancing, sharing and a 2-hour lunch break to enable you to get outside and have a good screen break. Much of the creative work will be done away from the screen, but still connected via zoom and is designed to be do-able in a domestic environment.
